Valuation Division records, 1881-1991 (bulk 1915-1928).

Reports to the Interstate Commerce Commission's Bureau of Valuation, ICC hearing records and related files, right-of-way and trackage maps, and track profiles produced or maintained by the GN administrative unit responsible for tracking and reporting on the monetary value (cost of reproduction) of the GN's physical properties and those of its subsidiaries. The various reports, accounting records, and communications with the ICC give very detailed information on the monetary value of every component of GN operating property, most of which accounting was mandated by the ICC following its initial 1915 valuation order to U.S. railroads. Maps depict the line, right-of-way, and structures as they existed during the 1920s. Track profiles show the grade of, and related engineering information about, every mile of track within the system.
